Students and their families can access services to support student learning needs in country schools and preschools.
Student Support Services for learning needs
Student Support Services have a diverse workforce of allied health practitioners and specialist educators. They work with schools, preschools and families where there are students who have particular learning and wellbeing needs.
See Student Support Services for the range of services provided.
Aboriginal community
Student support services staff work in partnership with Aboriginal community education managers and Aboriginal services engagement officers to make sure aboriginal children and families can access culturally appropriate supports.
Locations
Student support services staff are based in both metropolitan and country locations. Some staff are based in a local education office, delivering a visiting service, and other staff are based in children’s centres, preschools or schools.
Country schools without student support service positions are supported through outreach services from metropolitan locations. This hybrid model uses face-to-face and telepractice services by engaging external providers.
More strategies are being explored to improve access to services in country locations.
