Australian Science and Mathematics School upgrade celebrated

22 May 2024

South Australia’s only specialist science and mathematics school, based in Adelaide’s inner south, has undergone a $3 million facility upgrade.

Completion of the project at the Australian Science and Mathematics School was officially recognised on Wednesday 22 May.

The school, affiliated with Tonsley Technical College which is now under construction nearby, is a specialist, innovative Government school for students in years 10 to 12 who have a passion for science, mathematics and technology.

The upgrade, which was completed last year, included the refurbishment of existing studios and laboratories, and expansions of Studio 7 to provide upgraded amenities to students and teachers within their learning spaces.

The school’s existing "heat and eat" area was upgraded and a second area was also created to generate a departure from the learning environment for student use.

The project also included some external improvements including landscaping, signage and an improved main entry and reception area for all users and visitors to the school.

Australian Science and Mathematics School Principal Kylie Eggers said, the last few years have seen many exciting developments for our students and our wider school community – including these upgrades and the fostering of our key relationships with Flinders University and Tonsley Technical College.

“Underpinning these developments is our school’s continued innovation and flexibility in learning, which is supported by these upgrades which continue to allow us to adapt to what is required to deliver to our learners”.

“Collaborative spaces such as these have never been more important and useful for our students and educators”, Eggers said.
