Hundreds of experienced secondary mathematics teachers are being engaged to deliver free online tutoring to students as part of the Learning+ pilot program.
From next year the program will increase the number of tutors to provide free maths tutoring for students in years 6 to 9 each term.
The pilot, which is already seeing positive results, is targeted at developing understanding, confidence, and learning outcomes in maths in a 1 to 1 environment.
Tutoring sessions take place after school or on weekends for 30 minutes twice a week for 10 weeks.
All maths teachers including public, private, temporary relief teachers (TRTs) and teachers on maternity leave can apply to become to a Learning+ tutor.
