Henley High facilities officially open

22 May 2024

A $12.14 million redevelopment of Henley High School, in Adelaide’s west, has officially opened.

The major infrastructure project at the school, which has about 1,350 students, added 22 new classrooms to the site, including dedicated learning spaces for science, health, food technology and the arts.

Construction began in February 2020 and was completed in December 2021, with students moving into the new facilities the following year.

The school upgrade was officially opened on Tuesday 21 May after being delayed initially by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to the learning spaces, Henley High has a new administration facility adjoining the main two-story building and a new gateway area defined by sculptural aluminium finned screens.

Along with a high-profile sports academy, the school is known for its science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program, VET pathways and a global perspective across the curriculum.

Henley High School Principal Tony Sims said, as we prepare our students for an evolving and challenging world, it is refreshing to have new spaces for our teachers and students to work in.

“The technology in the new facilities is also suitable for staff purposes as we are a high user of technologies”.

“As well as the general classrooms, it’s also great that we have some new practical spaces like food technology, performing arts and our high-performance sports centre”, Sims said.
