Music Innovation Fund grants hit the right note

17 August 2023

Classrooms at 120 public schools and preschools will be filled with music, after being granted a share in around $275,000 to deliver quality music education programs in South Australia.

The successful applicants will use the funding to purchase instruments, strengthen music programs and engage musicians and music organisations.

Amongst the recipients are Bordertown Primary School who were granted $5,000 to invest in classroom instruments, Tinyeri Children’s Centre will receive $1,800 towards their preschool multi-sensory music program, and Wirreanda Secondary School will receive $7,000 for a percussion immersion program.

The Centre of Deaf Education at Brighton Primary School will also receive $5,400 to support deaf and hard of hearing students to access and engage with music.

This is the fifth round of the Music Innovation Fund, which is an initiative of the state’s Music Education Strategy.

More than $1.3 million has been allocated to 174 government schools, 86 preschools and 10 external music related organisations since the initiative began in 2020.

A full list of the round 5 recipients for the Music Innovation Fund is available on the Department for Education website.
