Paracombe Primary and Preschool officially opens
Paracombe Primary and Preschool officially opened its new preschool today, including a new standalone building and an outdoor learning area.
The new preschool is the result of an amalgamation between Houghton Preschool and Paracombe Primary School.
Work on the $1.77m project was completed in June 2022, before the first preschool children were welcomed through the gates in Term 3 that year.
With high ceilings for natural light, the modern building supports early learning for up to 30 children.
An adjoining art room for the primary students was included as part of the preschool project.
In total, the site accommodates about 80 children and young people across the preschool and primary school.
Located on Harvey Road in the Adelaide Hills, Paracombe Primary and Preschool is about 30km north-east of Adelaide and surrounded by nature.
Staff and students work together to engage with the community through gardening and cooking projects, as well as maintaining and creating school treasures.
“Our school is located in a beautiful nature setting and we are really pleased with the way our new preschool building has been nestled into the landscape”, said Paracombe Primary and Preschool Principal Bianca Laister.
“With our new onsite preschool, it ensures we can deliver a continuity of learning experiences through from playgroup, preschool and primary school.
“It’s a very welcoming space for families to come into our site, engage with their child’s learning and connect with the local community.
“Today’s official opening is a wonderful opportunity to invite our tight-knit community to come together and celebrate this new milestone in our school’s long and proud history.”
