Roxby Downs Area School refurbishment officially open
Roxby Downs Area School has undergone a $7 million facility upgrade, which features a nature playground and a new amphitheatre providing an open-air performance space for students to showcase their talents.
Located in the state’s far north, Roxby Downs Area School has 488 students across Reception to Year 12.
The building project, which reached completion in December 2021, has been officially opened and included the refurbishment of 4 buildings encompassing general learning areas, teacher preparation areas, and breakout areas where students can collaborate.
The school’s food technology spaces were also refreshed, while the music room and drama studio had sound proofing installed.
The new amphitheatre used for open-air performances forms part of a broader common landscaped area for students and staff to use for both outdoor learning and break times, along with a stunning nature playground that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding desert landscape.
Roxby Downs Area School Principal Annette Williams said the facility upgrade at Roxby Downs Area School has been incredibly beneficial for students, staff and our local community.
"The new learning spaces have been a welcome addition, and our students are really enjoying the new food technology space and break out areas".
