The survey of wellbeing and student engagement was previously known as Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI).
The department takes measures to ensure students’ personal information and their identities remain anonymous when participating in the survey.
Participating schools with fewer than 5 students undertaking the survey will not receive a school report in order to protect the identity of students.
Complying with privacy principles
The Information Privacy Principles (PDF 235KB) apply to the South Australian public education system to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of individuals. All systems and processes used by the department meet the requirements of state and federal privacy legislation to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of individuals.
The non-government school sector complies with the Privacy Act 1988.
Information being collected is consistent with National Health and Medical Research Council protocols relating to personal information.
