The basketball carnival is a fun based competition for students with disability in year 4 to 12 which is supported by Maxima. Find out more about the event and how you can enter.
Who can participate
To participate in the event, students with a disability must be
- enrolled at an affiliated school.
- in year 4 or above.
When and where
There are 2 dates for the carnival this year. Schools can choose to attend either
- Springbank Secondary College, Daws Road, Pasadena on Thursday 12 June.
- St Clair Community and Recreation Centre, 109 Woodville Rd, Woodville South on Friday 13 June - Including Primary Schools
The carnival will start at 9.30am and finish by 2.30pm. The draw and final details will be sent to schools once nominations closed.
Entry fee
No entry fee for students.
How to enter
Schools submit the basketball students with disability carnival nomination form.
- Secondary nomination form by Thursday 29 May
- Primary nomination form by Friday 30 May
Format and divisions
- Rules will be very relaxed and not over-officiated.
- Students must wear enclosed shoes and their school's sports uniform.
- Referees will be supplied for each game.
- Maxima will set up a break-out room where students can take part in fun games and activities or to relax in between games.
Divisions
Schools can enter as many teams as they like.
- Division 1 is for capable players which have played some basketball or have reasonable skills.
- Division 2 is for players not as able as division 1. Students may not necessarily have played basketball before but have reasonable hand-eye coordination and are prepared to have a go.
- Division 3 is for players with no basketball experience and decreased mobility. The rings will be lowered for this division.
