Reception to year 10 science
Science in the Australian Curriculum gives students opportunities to understand important concepts and processes, the practices used to develop scientific knowledge, its contribution to our culture and society, and its uses in our lives. Students develop scientific knowledge, understanding and skills to make informed decisions about local, national and global issues, and to succeed in science-related careers.

Reception to year 10 technologies
Technologies in the Australian Curriculum brings together Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies. Students learn about, and work with, traditional, contemporary and emerging technologies that shape our world. Students engage in critical and creative thinking including understanding interrelationships in systems when solving complex problems.

Reception to year 10 mathematics
Mathematics in the Australian Curriculum helps students to build essential mathematical skills and knowledge in number, algebra, measurement, space, statistics and probability. It develops the numeracy capabilities that all students need in their personal, work and civic life. Mathematics provides opportunities for students to apply their mathematical understanding creatively and is vital for the other STEM disciplines.

General capabilities in the Australian Curriculum
STEM learning offers a rich context for learning and developing the general capabilities. There are 7 general capabilities that add richness and depth across the learning areas. Students can apply these capabilities in complex and changing circumstances, in their learning at school and in their lives outside of school.

The SACE offers a range of subjects to support STEM further education and career pathways, such as:
Vocational education and training (VET) pathways
The growing industries of defence, space, digital and cyber security, community service and health in South Australia all need people with vocational qualifications. Other opportunities include agriculture, aquaculture and horticulture, defence, electro-technology, horticulture, ICT, engineering and manufacturing, gaming and visual effects.
Students can work towards VET qualifications that are:
- accredited within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
- recognised within the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
