As part of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of education settings with students, school leaders, staff, parents, the community and interagency partners. You’ll work alongside highly experienced psychologists with world class expertise in school-based psychology. We will prioritise your professional and personal growth so you can flourish as a psychologist.

Collaboration is at the core of our approach. You’ll work with a diverse and large multi-disciplinary team, learning skills and collaborating with other allied health professionals and experienced educators.

As a psychologist with us you can access:

  • an induction program that allows you to shadow experienced psychologists and gain practical experience under supportive supervision arrangements
  • quality supervision to refine your practice in various areas, including child psychology, assessment and diagnosis, small group interventions, and training for parents and educators
  • training days that include highly regarded presenters, ensuring you stay up to date with the latest advancements in the field
  • opportunities to work with children and students of different ages, cultures and backgrounds in locations across the state
  • a combination of direct work with children and young people, consultation with staff and supporting schools with whole-school change
  • extensive resources, as well as ongoing professional learning to meet Australian Health Practice Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration requirements and the ability to complete a Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) registrar program for an area of practice endorsement.

Who can apply

You could be a recent graduate or an experienced psychologists seeking a change, apply to join the largest employer of psychologists in the state and embark on an exciting career journey.

To apply to be a psychologist with us you will need:

If you’re not familiar with working in preschools and schools, we’ll support you to understand our system. You do not need a teaching qualification to work as a psychologist for our department.

People of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and people with a disability are encouraged to apply.

Salary and benefits

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

These will be adjusted to hours worked:

  • AHP1: $71,375 to $83,594 per annum plus superannuation
  • AHP2: $88,255 to $102,240 per annum plus superannuation
  • AHP3: $104,180 to $111,746 per annum plus superannuation.

Financial support of up to 20% loading for relocation assistance may be available for appointments in regional areas.
