Art in Motion: media arts for all

Art In Motion is a free, innovative online teaching and learning resource designed for primary school students. It's also useful for lower secondary school students.

Structure and features

It features media artworks by five of Australia’s best-known artists, engaging student activities, comprehensive information on the artists and their works, teaching notes, and curriculum links.

Each artist resource contains:

  • a video artwork for study
  • a video introduction by the artist (full transcripts included)
  • an artist statement
  • ideas to explore, discuss and share in the classroom
  • art making activities

All resources are downloadable and printable.

 

Teacher notes

The online package focuses on the video artwork of five acclaimed Australian artists:

  • Shaun Gladwell
  • Jess MacNeil
  • Joan Ross
  • Daniel von Sturmer
  • Grant Stevens.

Designed for students, the site also encourages teachers and parents to be active participants by guiding students through the viewing and learning activities. The resources align with the making and responding strands of the Australian Curriculum, Media Arts. The link to Teaching notes gives a complete overview of the resource.
