These four websites explore the world of creating digital art for younger students. To begin the projects, parent supervision and assistance is recommended.
Structure and features
These tools and activities will encourage students to take their creative ideas outside the computer screen and onto the art table. They can explore the sites with adult supervision to become familiar with the tools and templates.
Collage art
Aminahs World is where learners choose to build collage art by layering fabric, found objects, shells and wool. Aminah is an American artist who shares stories and ideas about her family and her community through sculpture, rag paintings, paintings on cloth, drawings, and books. This resource will show students that they can experiment with unusual, or previously unconsidered, mediums.
Abstract art
There is an interesting range of mouse lead tools in Bomomo to make abstract digital artworks.
Digital patterns
Experiment with digital patterns at Scrap Colour where many shapes and templates can be filled with solid colours or patterns.
Blocks and animation
The Toy Theatre is a platform to build with coloured blocks or animate your own drawings or use the library of picture graphics.
