Groove Pizza lets you play different rhythms using mathematical concepts like shapes, angles and patterns. It's a circular rhythm app made by the NYU Music Experience Design Lab (MusEDLab).
Structure and features
Here's how to make your own Groove Pizza:
- press play to explore the pizza shape
- select a 'Specials' pizza preset
- click on the 'Shapes' tab and drag 'toppings' on, or off, the Groove Pizza to adjust the groove
- use the drum grid to make a 16-beat pattern
- select another 'Specials' pizza preset to discover different musical styles
- experiment with a different tempo, volume level, or instruments.

- Teachers can devise mini beat or rhythm tasks for students.
- Aligned to the Australian Curriculum improvising and creating beat patterns and combining sounds to make music.
