Inclusive games for small areas

This resource has examples of inclusive games that can be played in small spaces with 2 to 6 people. The instructional cards provide opportunities to adapt and modify game rules, equipment and techniques so that anyone can participate in the fun.

Structure and features

The games in this resource are designed to include participants with limited mobility, and to develop children's skills, confidence and motivation for sports-based activities. Teachers and families can access information about how to modify elements of each activity so that all children are able to participate. The card deck that shows you how to plan and execute games including bean bag challenge, boccia and sitting volleyball. Movement learning can be achieved by:

  • teachers using the resource to plan inclusive activities at home.
  • students attempting the activities with family members
  • students reflecting on the effectiveness of game modifications in promoting inclusivity.
