Sports news for kids

Kids News is a free ready-to go literacy resource for teachers using current daily news stories for students in the classroom. It's suitable for students from Year 3 to Year 8. Kids News is written specifically for students, so they can use it safely in an unsupervised environment or for independent learning.

Structure and features

The content covers general news, sport and key topics, and provides three classroom activities per news article. Articles are categorised into comprehension levels (Green, Orange and Red) to suit different ages. Three new articles are added every day. Student activities could include:

  • read the ‘about us’ link and the ‘how to use’ link at the bottom of the page
  • explore the ‘sports’ news articles
  • prepare your lesson using the suggested activities and videos
  • use the search function to find a variety of news articles with links to other subject areas.
