Yoga

This series of short, creative yoga videos will introduce students to yoga through storytelling and song. The benefits of yoga include:

  • improving coordination, balance, concentration and rhythmic expression
  • promoting healthy living and inclusivity
  • developing strategies to manage stress through breathing
  • helping students grow in confidence
  • introducing students to mindfulness.

Structure and features

  • developing literacy skills through stories and song
  • resources and lesson plans for teachers (may incur a cost)
  • blog ideas and advice that help teachers and families.

Families can choose one practical yoga session every 1-2 days. You can participate in the yoga session as a family, or children can navigate the site and choose their own independently.

Teachers can choose one practical yoga session every 1-2 days. You can complement the practical session with a written task detailed for specific year levels in 'Yoga Lesson Ideas'.

Assessment opportunities

Teachers can ask students to:

  • film their creative movement sequences and send them to you
  • record their reflection journals online or take a photo of it and share it with you.

Australian curriculum

  • Focus area – active play and minor games, mental health and wellbeing, health benefits of physical activity, lifelong physical activity, rhythmic and expressive activities.
  • Cross curriculum links – English, Maths, the Arts.
