Everyday objects: now and then

How is my world different from the past? This resource looks at objects from the past and how these compare to objects that we use today. This is most suitable for years 1 and 2.

Structure and features

Using 6 everyday objects from the past, the National Museum of Australia has put together engaging videos and lesson ideas for junior primary students to inquire into everyday life and how it has changed over time.

  1. Access the National Museum of Australia website - What is this?
  2. Select an object to investigate.
  3. Get students to watch the video associated with your chosen object.
  4. Get students to make comparisons between that object and an object used for the same purpose today. Consider what might be the same and different in the future.
