Structure and features
Instruct students to:
- Play the Gold Rush Game as 2 different characters.
- Take some notes as you go.
- When you are finished, compare the 2 characters in the attached Venn diagram.
- Consider the following areas to compare:
- Opportunities- what opportunities were there to earn a living?
- Challenges- what challenges did they face at this time?
- Name the characters you are comparing at the top of each circle.
- Record their opportunities and challenges in the circles - the similarities in the middle and their differences outside.
- Write a short reflection about playing the game:
- What did you learn?
- What surprised you?
- What did you already know?
