- Talk with your family about your family's story:
- who are the people in your family and where were they born and raised?
- Write a short text that tells your story (it's okay if it doesn't rhyme).
- Add images or an illustration to your story that adds to the meaning
For teachers
For young students who are learning to write:
- support them to plan their writing by modelling the sentence structure orally first
- support them to write words they already know
- encourage them to sound out unknown words and to write the sounds they know
- model how you might use syllables in sounding out the more difficult words
- scribe for them where necessary
- re-read the text with the student at the end to check for meaning.
