Explore Japanese language and culture through Erin's Challenge

Erin’s Challenge is a website base on the 'Erin’s Challenge! I can speak Japanese' teaching material developed by the Japan Foundation for students to develop their Japanese language skills and cultural understandings.

Students can explore Japanese communication for daily life, grammar, vocabulary, script and cultural activities through videos, skits and quizzes, either sequentially or at their interest.

Structure and features

In 'Erin's Challenge' there are 25 lessons ranging from greetings to talking about how you feel. Each lesson has a basic and advanced skit, key phrases, quizzes, illustrative videos and vocabulary sections.

Students can practise listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary, as well as developing important intercultural understandings.

For teachers

Teachers can assign particular units to students which are aligned to their teaching and learning program. They may wish to include specific language or cultural reflection questions or tasks related to the topics and concepts.
