Picture books

Lists of picture books and ways to use them effectively to teach mathematics.

Structure and features

The Fuse Education website below contains a video that shows teachers using picture books as a learning stimulus. It has suggestions of how you might use books effectively in mathematics.

Love2learn2day has a comprehensive list of picture books that can be used to promote discussion or introduce a concept. They are divided into topic categories so you can easily find a book that suits your needs. Many of the books can be found online, with either someone reading them or a PDF version available. Some are common titles that you might find in your school library. You could make a video of yourself reading the story aloud and send this home to students.

Mathsolutions also has a list of picture books for use.
