Structure and features
For families
Learning with your child (GreatStart) has ideas for everyday activities that families can do at home. These include activities to go with what families are already doing, ideas that may be new and will only take a few minutes and others that will take a little longer.
Activities are organised in the following groups:
- birth to 2 years old
- birth to 5 years old
- 3 to 5 years old.
Families can also learn about literacy, numeracy and STEM thinking and learning their child will be developing and how this will link to learning in later life.

For teachers
Teachers can encourage families to incorporate everyday learning at home. Encourage children to feel they will do well at learning tasks. Talk about how trying hard and doing their best is what matters. This will help children to become more confident and enthusiastic learners.
