Learn about the magnitude of negative numbers and begin to do computation with directed numbers. You'll need a pen or pencil and paper, and a ruler to create number lines for the activities.
Solving directed number problems
Continue to develop efficient strategies to complete arithmetic processes such as addition and subtraction with positive and negative numbers. You'll need a pen or pencil, paper, a ruler and a calculator.
Multiplication and division with directed numbers
Learn to develop efficient mental and written strategies to complete multiplication and division problems with directed numbers, focussing on the use of patterns. You'll need a pen or pencil, paper, a ruler and a calculator.
Review fractions, decimals and percentages
Review fractions and decimals and recall that the decimal form of a rational number can be either terminating or recurring. Review adding and subtracting fractions. You'll need pen or pencil, paper or device and a calculator.
Multiplication and division with fractions
Review multiplication and division of both whole numbers and fractions by a fraction. You'll need pen or pencil, paper and a calculator.
Connecting fractions, decimals and percentages
Develop efficient mental and written strategies with rational numbers, including fractions, decimals, and percentages and to make connections between the 3 representations. You'll need pen or pencil, paper and a calculator.
Order of operations
Learn to recall the order of operations and apply to directed numbers. You'll need pen or pencil, paper and a calculator.
Bringing it together – directed number and fractions
Further develop your mental and written strategies to complete the arithmetic processes of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with integers, fractions and directed number. You'll need pen or pencil, paper and a calculator.
