Build your pedagogical content knowledge to enhance your ability to design mathematics learning that engages children and expands their ability and confidence to apply their mathematical knowledge in their learning. This program will support you to develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts using highly effective research informed practices.
The presenters were engaging, knowledgeable and most of all inclusive of everyone's maths knowledge and experience. After each session we felt inspired to try the ideas back at school and our confidence and understanding of maths as a discipline improved a lot.

Program overview
This program explores key mathematical concepts and teaching strategies, including attitudes and beliefs in education and insights into the SA Curriculum: Mathematics. It will provide you with a solid foundation in number sense, operations, and problem-solving, covering statistical reasoning, geometric thinking and strategies to enhance learner engagement, challenge, and support in mathematics.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this program you’ll be able to:
- design mathematics learning experiences for learners in your context using a variety of resources and pedagogical approaches
- use a range of questioning strategies to develop the 4 capabilities for mathematics in the SA Curriculum for public education
- select and apply evidence-informed practices to support the development of learner outcomes
- promote consistency and accuracy of mathematical vocabulary and encourage productive classroom discourse
- identify and explore learning dispositions within a mathematical context
- design learning sequences with opportunities for differentiation to better meet the needs of diverse learners.
The program empowers participants to design engaging learning that develops learner confidence and ability in mathematics. It offers insights for developing numeracy skills across the curriculum, aligning with our commitment to equity and excellence, and builds understanding of the SA Curriculum, mathematical concepts, language and effective classroom strategies across 5 days.
