National teacher certification is an Australia wide pathway to advancing your career while continuing your valuable work in the classroom. This year, the process has been streamlined to be more flexible and teacher friendly. You'll find yourself spending less time on evidence collection, allowing more time to have a positive impact on colleagues and students.

This process required me to reflect deeply on my practice and see the impact I have had on colleagues, and the difference I have made for children and their families. I am proud that I put myself out there and am able to represent the excellent work of early years educators.

Program overview

The program will support you to expand your knowledge, skills and application of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. It will help you to effectively structure, gather and annotate your portfolio aligned to either the Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher career stage.

The time it takes to become certified depends on a variety of factors. It can vary from 4 months through to 12 months. You can speed up your certification journey by leveraging your completion of Orbis programs or other professional learning. This can be used as part of your portfolio - you could be well on your way!
